That the parties have chosen negotiations means that either sideâs failure to comply with its obligation to negotiate can result in an internationally wrongful act and, in response, countermeasures and other responses. This monograph seeks to advance our understanding of the international law of negotiation and use this as a framework for assessing the IsraeliâPalestinian dispute, with the Palestinian peopleâs unsuccessful attempt to join the United Nations as a Member State in autumn 2011 and the successful attempt to join the same institution as a non-Member Observer State in November 2012 providing a case study for this. The legal consequences of these applications are not merely of historical interest; they inform the present rights and obligations of Israel and the Palestinian people. This work fills a significant gap in the existing international law scholarship on the IsraeliâPalestinian dispute, which neither engages with this means of dispute settlement generally nor does so specifically within the context of the Palestinian peopleâs engagements with international institutions." -- Book jacket. 650 0 $a Self-determination, National $z Palestine. 650 0 $a Mediation, International. $0 http://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh85082847 651 0 $a Palestine $x International status. $0 http://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh2008108853 650 0 $a Arab-Israeli conflict $x History. $0 http://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh2009115172 655 7 $a History. $2 fast $0 http://id.worldcat.org/fast/1411628 $0 http://id.worldcat.org/fast/1411628 650 7 $a Arab-Israeli conflict. $2 fast $0 (OCoLC)fst00812220 650 7 $a International law. $2 fast $0 (OCoLC)fst00976984 650 7 $a Mediation, International. $2 fast $0 (OCoLC)fst01013650 650 7 $a Self-determination, National. $2 fast $0 (OCoLC)fst01111610 651 7 $a Middle East $z Palestine. $2 fast $0 (OCoLC)fst01207534 650 7 $a Staat. $0 (DE-588)4056618-3 $2 gnd 650 7 $a Anerkennung. $0 (DE-588)4128520-7 $2 gnd 650 7 $a Selbstbestimmungsrecht. $0 (DE-588)4054390-0 $2 gnd 650 7 $a Streiterledigung. $0 (DE-588)4183641-8 $2 gnd 651 7 $a PalaÌstina. $0 (DE-588)4044381-4 $2 gnd 941 $a 1 952 $l OVUX522 $d 20231018021119.0 956 $a http://locator.silo.lib.ia.us/search.cgi?index_0=id&term_0=31435D06F5D511E7B33F7C0497128E48Initiate Another SILO Locator Search
