Everyday aspects of Mexican life as well as its culture and popular iconography are documented here. Both in terms of how they exist in Mexico and how Mexican Americans in the US reinterpret them. With each of the subjects portrayed, Roj Rodriguez engaged in sometimes casual, sometimes insightful conversations. Mi Sangre includes proud and elegant charros, beautiful and skilled "escaramuzas", joyful and coy children, wise and innocent elders, vibrant and talented mariachi musicians, loving and welcoming families, and fine art reinterpretations of Loteria iconography. ROJ RODRIGUEZ (b.1971) was immersed in the visual arts at an early age. In 2000, he moved from Texas to NYC and spent almost two decades perfecting his craft. Today, he lives and works in Austin. 546 $a Text in English with some Spanish. 600 10 $a Rodriguez, Roj, $d 1971- 650 0 $a Photography, Artistic. 650 0 $a Black-and-white photography. 650 0 $a Mexicans $v Portraits. 650 0 $a Mexican Americans $v Portraits. 651 0 $a Mexico $x Social life and customs $v Pictorial works. 650 7 $a Photography, Artistic. $2 fast $0 (OCoLC)fst01061964 650 0 $a Idols and images $v Pictorial works. 650 0 $a Charros in art $v Pictorial works. 650 0 $a Mariachi musicians $v Pictorial works. 655 7 $a Photobooks. $2 lcgft 700 1 $a Rodriguez, Roj, $d 1971- 700 1 $a Huerta, Dolores, $d 1930- $e writer of foreword. 700 1 $a Cisneros, Henry, $e writer of introduction. 700 1 $a Menuez, Doug, $e contributor. 700 1 $a Tucker, Anne, $e writer of afterword. 700 1 $a Downs, Lila, $e lyricist. 941 $a 1 952 $l OVUX522 $d 20231117033352.0 956 $a http://locator.silo.lib.ia.us/search.cgi?index_0=id&term_0=FAB6AD8C3D8C11EE8AE814B62EECA4DBInitiate Another SILO Locator Search
