Asher Cordell, having decided to give up the life of crime he was forced to live to support his siblings, decides to commit one last theft and steal the famous diamond of his old rival the Marquis of Ormsby, and while in the act, he runs into childhood friend Juliana Greeley, who convinces him to help her locate letters Ormsby is using to blackmail her sister and for whom Asher feels a deep passion.
