The published works have been about Navajos and the tremendous contribution they made in the Pacific campaigns of the war. What is often overlooked is the role played in both World Wars by men of other tribes. There were Cherokee, Choctaw, Comanche, Creek and other tribal representatives with their languages involved as well. Tales of the Mighty Code Talkers, a graphic anthology of historically based stories, begins to fill that void. Seven stories -- two by the book's editor, Arigon Starr, dealing with Choctaw and Comanche code talkers, one by Roy Boney, Jr. on Cherokees, one by Johnnie Diacon on Creeks, and one by Jonathan Nelson on Navajos, plus stories from Lee Francis IV and Michael Sheyahshe -- provide an excellent rendering of the subject." 611 27 $a Korean War (1950-1953) $2 fast $0 (OCoLC)fst00988609 611 27 $a World War (1914-1918) $2 fast $0 (OCoLC)fst01180746 611 27 $a World War (1939-1945) $2 fast $0 (OCoLC)fst01180924 650 0 $a Cherokee code talkers $v Comic books, strips, etc. 650 0 $a Cherokee Indians $v Comic books, strips, etc. 650 0 $a Navajo code talkers $v Comic books, strips, etc. 650 0 $a Navajo Indians $v Comic books, strips, etc. 650 0 $a Choctaw code talkers $v Comic books, strips, etc. 650 0 $a Choctaw Indians $v Comic books, strips, etc. 650 0 $a Comanche Indians $v Comic books, strips, etc. 650 0 $a Creek Indians $v Comic books, strips, etc. 650 0 $a World War, 1914-1918 $x Participation, Indian $v Comic books, strips, etc. 650 0 $a World War, 1939-1945 $x Participation, Indian $v Comic books, strips, etc. 650 0 $a Korean War, 1950-1953 $x Participation, Indian $v Comic books, strips, etc. 651 0 $a United States $x Indians $x Indians $v Comic books, strips, etc. 650 0 $a World War, 1914-1918 $x Cryptography $v Comic books, strips, etc. 650 0 $a World War, 1939-1945 $x Cryptography $v Comic books, strips, etc. 650 0 $a Korean War, 1950-1953 $x Cryptography $v Comic books, strips, etc. 650 7 $a Armed Forces $x Indian troops. $2 fast $0 (OCoLC)fst01351791 650 7 $a Cherokee code talkers. $2 fast $0 (OCoLC)fst01920479 650 7 $a Cherokee Indians. $2 fast $0 (OCoLC)fst00853662 650 7 $a Choctaw code talkers. $2 fast $0 (OCoLC)fst01919337 650 7 $a Choctaw Indians. $2 fast $0 (OCoLC)fst00858301 650 7 $a Comanche Indians. $2 fast $0 (OCoLC)fst00868894 650 7 $a Creek Indians. $2 fast $0 (OCoLC)fst00882705 650 7 $a Cryptography. $2 fast $0 (OCoLC)fst00884552 650 7 $a Military participation $x Indian. $2 fast $0 (OCoLC)fst01353730 650 7 $a Navajo code talkers. $2 fast $0 (OCoLC)fst01737188 650 7 $a Navajo Indians. $2 fast $0 (OCoLC)fst01034799 651 7 $a United States. $2 fast $0 (OCoLC)fst01204155 648 7 $a 1914-1953 $2 fast 655 7 $a Graphic novels. $2 lcgft $0 http://id.loc.gov/authorities/genreForms/gf2014026362 655 7 $a Comic books, strips, etc. $2 fast $0 http://id.worldcat.org/fast/1423722 $0 http://id.worldcat.org/fast/1423722 655 7 $a Graphic novels. $2 fast $0 http://id.worldcat.org/fast/1726630 $0 http://id.worldcat.org/fast/1726630 700 1 $a Starr, Arigon, $e illustrator. $e illustrator. $0 http://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/n2003080384 700 1 $a Miner, Janet, $e editor. 700 1 $a Francis, Lee, $c IV, $e editor. 700 1 $a Boney, Roy, $e artist. $0 http://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/no2009168030 941 $a 1 952 $l OVUX522 $d 20231020020920.0 956 $a http://locator.silo.lib.ia.us/search.cgi?index_0=id&term_0=FE952C80EF8B11E79EB7FC5197128E48Initiate Another SILO Locator Search
