Summary:
Jerome Herman Dean, son of an Arkansas sharecropper, became a Hall of Fame pitcher for the St. Louis Cardinals. The legendary Gas House Gang of the early 1930s was notorious for pulling stunts, clowning around, and playing some really hard-nosed baseball, and 'Dizzy' Dean fit right in. After winning the World Series with the Cardinals and smashing all pitching records along the way, an injury caused Dean's early retirement. But his down home manner led to another career ... one of the most popular baseball broadcasters in the business.
