Doris, Lucille, and Esther are three friends in their fifties, from the same Jewish-American community in Pittsburgh. They have all become widows within the last few years. Once a week, they gather to visit their husbands' graves and meet at a deli afterward to talk about their lives. Each handles life after marriage differently, with varying attitudes to the future. A comedy-drama.
