Summary:
When his twin brother dies in an accident, paraplegic ex-Marine Jake Sully takes his place on a mission to the human outpost on Pandora, where a corporate consortium is mining a rare mineral that is the key to solving Earth's energy crisis. A group of scientists works with the corporation creating clone-like duplicates of the planet's inhabitants, the Na'vi. Sully is assigned to inhabit one of these "avatar" clones in order to infiltrate the Na'vi and to persuade them to permit the corporation to mine the planet. But when Sully gets lost on a mission, a Na'vi inhabitant saves his life and opens his mind to the planet's secrets.
