Summary:
Each at a turning point in their lives, a man and woman meet by chance at an inn in a small, coastal North Carolina town; a boy from the wrong side of the tracks falls in love with a rich girl, and it seems no one approves of the relationship; a grieving widower and a lonely divorcee come together when she finds a message in a bottle on a Cape Cod beach that she knows was written by him; a preacher's daughter begins an unlikely romance with a popular boy at school while keeping a secret from everyone.
