Summary:
Because of Winn-Dixie: 10-year-old Opal was abandoned by her mother when she was three. She moves to a small town in Florida with her father, a preacher. She adopts a stray dog whom she names after the local supermarket where he was found. With her beloved pooch by her side, she meets an eclectic group of townspeople and rekindles an almost lost relationship with her father. Firehouse dog: Rex is the world's most famous, and Hollywood's most pampered, pooch. He gets lost and is reluctantly adopted by a young boy. His father, the fire chief of a rundown station, agrees to the adoption only if his defiant son takes care of the dog. Little do they realize Rex will not only bring them closer, but also bring some much-needed faith back to the fire station. Marley & me: John and Jen are journalists who are a newly married couple. Marley is the adopted puppy that no one wants, a high-strung lab who is virtually untrainable. Marley shreds cushions, destroys floors and walls and most everything in between. Instead of taking him to the pound, they love their dog and he faithfully loves them in return. John and Jen eventually have three children and Jen gives up her career to be a mom. John's career continues to advance as he carves a niche as a local columnist. The family moves from Florida to Pennsylvania.
