Based on the novel, L'homme qui rit, by Victor Hugo. Originally produced as a silent motion picture in 1927. Following the feature is an afterword by Rich Olivieri explaining that this video version with correct running speed retains the impact of the original film.
Summary:
A man whose features were distorted into a permanent grin by order of King James II becomes a clown with a circus troupe where he falls in love with a beautiful blind girl.
