Summary:
Homo sapiens: Presented entirely without commentary or narration, this documentary comprises images of abandoned buildings and structures in the process of being reclaimed by nature, as well as desolate natural locales. Over the years: Follows a group of European textile workers over a ten-year-period after the mill where they work goes out of business. Abendland: Surveys disparate parts of Europe, the various scenes united only in that they take place at night. Our daily bread: Observes the various production processes of different foods, visiting slaughterhouses, sprawling fields, and everything in between. Elsewhere: Takes viewers on an epic journey that tours twelve communities in remote regions of the world, including locations in Nigeria, Finland, Namibia, Indonesia, Greenland, Australia, India, Russia, China, Italy, Canada, and Micronesia. Pripyat: Visits the Zone of Alienation around Chernobyl, where hundreds of people still live and thousands of others must travel to work in order to continue to contain the effects of the radioactive disaster that occurred there.
