Notes:
Presented to the Roxburghe club by John Malcolm. Listed as no. 114 in the Club's Catalogue of books, 1898. A collection of 74 miracles in French prose, translated from various Latin sources by Miélot, for Philip the Good or Charles the Bold. The colophon states that it is "le second volume des Miracles de la glorieuse vierge Marie." Copies of the missing first volume and this volume are preserved in the Bibliothèque nationale at Paris (Fonds français no. 9198-99) The first volume there bears the title "La vie et miracles de Nostre Dame"; it contains 58 miracles, preceded by a life of the Virgin and other prefatory matter. The colophon states that it was completed at the Hague April 10th, 1456. The Douce ms. is probably somewhat later. Reproduced mainly for the miniatures, 73 in number. The frontispiece and plate are from the Paris ms. cf. Introd. and Catalogue of Western mss. in the Bodleian, by F. Madan, v. 4, p. 611-12. Appendix: Letter from M. Léopold Delisle to Mr. E. M.
