Summary:
1988, Odessa, Texas. The small town is racially divided and economically dying. Only one thing brings the community together - Friday night high school football. The Permian Panthers have a big winning tradition and are led by QB Mike Winchell and superstar tailback Boobie Miles. Boobie suffers a career-ending injury in the first game of the season. Hope is lost among the citizens of Odessa. Coach Gary Gaines believes that the team can rise up from the ashes and make a hugh season comeback. Now on their way to state, the Panthers must go out and be perfect.
