Summary:
In an aristocratic English family, the young lord finds to his horror, while painting his wife's portrait, that as the work progresses life drains from his lady. In this poetic horror film, called by some the most outstanding achievement of this genre, an absolute mastery of editing and rhythm is employed with lighting and Gothic sets combining to impart an unearthly sense of mystery.
