Summary:
Nine-year-old Miranda is a sensitive loner growing up in rural Texas in the early 1900's. The fear of death that torments her stems from the unexplained passing of her mother. With the help of her free-spirited aunt, Miranda confronts her fears and learns to accept death as a natural part of life.
