Summary:
"This moving program documents the arduous and difficult road traveled by the architects of the modern civil rights movement on the way to making America a more just and free country for all its citizens regardless of race and ethnic background. Civil rights pioneer Rosa Parks is remembered as a courageous woman whose defiance in the face of segregation helped inspire the architects of the civil rights movement, such as Rev. and Mrs. King, and set in motion an historic series of events. These culminated in a seminal moment in American history, the march on Washington DC, where Martin Luther King movingly declared before millions of people, 'I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: we hold these truths to be self-evident; that all men are created equal.' This was a dream that he would spend most of his life trying to fulfill. And it was a dream that didn't end with his tragic assassination in 1968, but was brought to fruition through the tireless work of his wife, Coretta Scott King. A remarkable community leader in her own right, she carried on the civil rights legacy of her husband for over three decades."--Container.
