Summary:
Film adaptation of the novel by George Eliot. Relates the ill-fated romance of the heroine, Maggie, who is thrust into the male-dominated society of Victorian England, and has little chance for happiness as the daughter of an autocratic father who constantly reminds her of her duty to him and the family.
