Summary:
In 1939, Bluey fled hard times in England, but his new life in the wild's of Australia will require more than just strength and courage. When he signs on to be a suger cane cutter, he discovers that being accepted into a hard-drinking community is tougher than the dangerous work he is doing. As the world develops a hunger for the sweet product, Bluey's new found prosperity will be challenged by war, violent local prejudices, and one final massive disaster that will threaten the community's only livelihood.
