Summary:

After her husband dies in a Galician prison, Rosa takes her one year old baby and leaves for Madrid. She finds work as a maid, and then manages to rent a small shop in the Madrid market. Building on her business success, Rosa then establishes a restaurant in an abandoned warehouse. Within a few months her restaurant is serving Madrid's elite. Both of her lovers, a younger man and an older divorcee ask her to marry, but she turns them down, prefering to remain independent.
