Summary:
"The Harper family refutes the old expression "there's no such thing as bad publicity" when Bubba gets a video camera and his heavily edited footage winds up on Raytown public access cable TV. Mama could use a personality coach, which might have helped in her campaign against neighbor Iola Boylen for president of the Church Ladies League. But despite her crankiness, Thelma Harper does the right thing after the bank ATM spits out $20 bills like a slot machine. She is the heroine of Ray Lane for boldly hopping aboard the wrecking ball to protect her house and neighborhood from becoming the site of the new dump. And she's willing to drop an expensive funeral plan on her family's behalf. A rare weekend alone puts Mama's life in perspective. Companionship sure beats talking to Iola's goldfish, drinking beer, watching wrestling, or making noise with pots and pans to accompany an imprompu musical medley. Misery is having no one around to insult." -- back of container.
