Summary:
The mettle of the Corps was proven at Midway, Guadalcanal, Bougainville, Tarawa, Saipan, Tinian, Peleliu, Iwo Jima, Okinawa. Nearly 87,000 Marines were killed or wounded during World War II, and 82 earned the Medal Of Honor. Through three years of conflict, over thousands of miles of the trackless Pacific against a determined enemy, Marines fought for freedom, for America and for the Corps. Authentic historic film footage taken by Marine combat cameramen of the nation's force-in-readiness depicts Marine Corps' training, weaponry, deployment and engagements in World War II.
