Summary:
[disc 1] Marianne is the wife of a famous diamond jeweler. When he suddenly commits suicide, she learns that the business is in shambles and she is drawn back into the jewel dealing world. Forced to sell a cache of stolen gems her husband hid in their home, she finds herself confronted by plenty of would-be suitors, including the Russian mafia and the De Beers diamond cartel. [disc 2] A young, successful author is haunted by a recurring dream of a woman obscured in darkness. [disc 3] The beautiful Madame de Merteuil seeks vengeance when her ex-lover tells her that he is now engaged to her young goddaughter, Cécile. She turns to her partner-in-crime, Valmont, famous for his Don Juan reputation to seduce Cécile. Valmont gets sidetracked when he goes to visit his aunt and falls for Madame Tourvel, a virtuous, married woman who knows of his womanizing ways, but that only makes the challenge more exciting to Valmont. Together, Madame de Merteuil and Valmont make a dangerous team and they will stop at nothing when it comes to matters of the heart. [disc 4] Expertly mixes comedy, tragedy, and melodrama to tell the emotionally gripping story of the interesting lives of two former lovers.
