This forces James to take care of things once and for all.

The bushwackers: Scared by the death and destruction of the Civil War, a former soldier takes a vow of non-violence. On his way back to Missouri, he passes through a town controlled by a tyrannical land tycoon. He witnesses the murder of the local newspaper columnist for printing unfavorable articles about the landowner. The ex-soldier breaks his vow of passivity and sets out to take down the villainous land baron.
