Summary:
Jiao ao de jiang jun (The conceited general): a successful general returns home from battle to live in luxury. He drinks, stops practicing his skills and leaves his weapons to rust. He is arrogant and self-assured. When the enemy once again attacks he finds himself unable to defend himself or the country.
Xiao ke dou zhao ma ma (Where is Mamma): the narrated film describes the adventures and misadventures of a group of tadpoles in search of their mother. It is the first Chinese ink painting animated films.
Mu di (The cowboy's fiute): the story is about a relationship between a young cow herding boy with an extraordinary flute playing ability. He is accompanied by his faithful water buffalo, and falls asleep in a tree. Soon he was dreaming that he has lost his buffalo. The dream sequence is delightfully whimsical, beginning with falling leaves that turn into butterflies and gradually lead the cow herder to a beautiful mist-filled valley. Here the buffalo refuses to budge from his hiding spot, leaving the cow herder to find an alternate musical solution to his problem.
Shan shui qing (Feeling from mountain and water): the story is about a young boy of a fisherman learning from a musican to play Qin, a musical instrument.
