Summary:

A cultural and social history of the place that streetcars once held in the everyday life of New Orleans and the turbulent times of a violent 1929 strike, and the struggles over segregated seating (Plessy v. Ferguson). Combines recent and vintage images with commentary by citizens and streetcar company staff and others including poet/essayist Andrei Codrescu, writer Tom Dent, and urbanologist Jack Stewart.
