Includes the four films which established Man Ray as a major figure of the 1920s avant-garde cinema: Le retour à la raison and Emak Bakia (influenced by the Dada spirit), L'étoile de mer (a surrealist film), Les mystères du château du dé (bordering on surrealism), as well as eleven short "autobiographical" films that include appearances by Man Ray, Lee Miller, Meret Oppenheim, Picasso, Paul and Nusch Eluard, Roland Penrose, Ady Fidelin. Sound recordings used for accompaniment include performances by Stephane Grappelli, Django Reinhardt, Josephine Baker, Mistinguett.
