It is widely known that Belgian neo-conceptual artist Wim Delvoye focuses much of his work on the body. Repeatedly linking the attractive with the repulsive, he creates work that expresses inherent contradictions, as well as commentary on both technological advancement and consumerism. The artist's ongoing, multifaceted Cloaca project encompasses a substantial collection of hundreds of drawings and sketches of everything from individual Cloaca machines and issued shares, bonds, and certificates, to ironic packaging designs based on familiar logos, advertising figures, and corporate emblems, and even renderings of the Cloaca factory's celestial gates.
