Summary:
Fortified with only a gallon of gin and a salami, Jack Smurch makes the first non-stop flight around the world and becomes an instant "hero." The trouble is, he doesn't fit the image, so the press and other politicos set out to make Jack into their kind of American hero, and at any cost.
