TAlexandre Dumas freely takes inspiration from the memoirs of M. d'Artagnan de Gatien de Courtilz de Sandras (1700) to recount the adventures of a young, 18 year old Gascon: d'Artagnan. This hotheaded young man leaves his parents to go to Paris and to introduce himself to the Monsieur de Treville, captain of the Company of Musketeers. Thereupon follows a series of events that lead the Gascon to confront in a duel three musketeers-Athos, Porthos, and Aramis- and the guards of Cardinal Richelieu...His thrilling adventures are only just the begining.
