Summary:
Set between the years 1642 and 1660 and against the explosive backdrop of the English Civil War, The Devil's Mistress explores a country in crisis through the eyes of young Angelica Fanshawe-from the abandonment of her loyalty to the Royal Family to her destitute existence as a prostitute to her position as the intimate confidante of the notorious Oliver Cromwell, Lord Protector of England. It's a journey of the heart and mind, of seduction and betrayal, of an innocent who'd do anything to survive.
