Summary:

Ben Cartwright's political plans to run for governor of Nevada are abandoned when a stranger arrives in Virginia City. The stranger, a police inspector, is obsessed with taking Ben back to New Orleans to face a murder charge dating back twenty years. Along the way, Ben realizes that the inspector has a hatred for him, and has no intention of allowing Ben to reach their destination alive.
