Summary:
Romance between the offspring of two feuding families adds fuel to a dispute over the planned development project of the girl's wealthy father which threatens to make a lot of poor people homeless. Her lover is a leader in opposing the project and it all leads to violent confrontations with tragic consequences interspersed with musical interludes before all is resolved.
