Tales of terror: Three stories adapted from the works of Edgar Allan Poe. In "Morella," a dying young woman tries to reconcile with her father, who has always blamed her for her mother's death during childbirth. In "The black cat," a man discovers his wife's affair and takes steps to remove his rival, only to have his wife's black cat reveal his evil deed. And In "The facts in the case of M. Valdemar," the dying M. Valdemar employs a hypnotist to put him in a trance and winds up stuck between the world of the living and the dead, under the control of the hypnotist. The pit and the pendulum: A young Englishman visits a forbidding Spanish castle to investigate his sister's mysterious death and uncovers a sinister plot by his sister's husband to bury her alive. The raven: A former sorcerer learns from a colleague that his dead wife is alive and living at the castle of a rival wizard.
