Summary:
This program explains the importance of the rainforest--for the diversity of plant and animal life and for the critical role it plays in planetary weather. Rich in resources, the rainforest has been systematically destroyed from commercial logging, cattle ranching and agriculture. Strategies suggested to preserve the rainforest include pressure on governments of tropical nations to create parks and wildlife reserves, education for local populations, and more funding for family planning.
