Summary:
Nanook of the North: presents a documentary on the life of an Eskimo family pitting their strength against a vast and inhospitable Arctic. Juxtaposes their struggle for survival against the elements with the warmth of the little family as they go about their daily affairs. Contains both documentary footage and staged scenes.
The wedding of Palo, Nanook's obvious successor, is the last beautiful work of the famed Danish polar explorer and anthropologist Dr. Knud Rasmussen. Traditional eskimo culture is embodied in this early ethnographic film of life in Greenland focusing around the contest between two rivals for the love of an Inuit woman.
