Summary:
The King is Dancing tells the story of Louis XIV (Benoît Magimel) heir to the throne of a troubled kingdom. The future king, a shy young man, has his destiny altered when musician Jean-Baptiste Lully (Boris Terral) and the famed playwright Molière (Tchéky Karyo) enter his life. They immediately recognize the young king's talent for dance and with breathtaking artistry they compose and stage ballets that glorify Louis's image. The young monarch is transformed into the Royal Dancer - The Sun King, a God on earth. Louis XIV (1638-1715) was king of France for 72 years, the longest reign in modern European history. Under his reign, France ranked above all other European nations in art, literature, war, and statesmanship.
