Summary:
The purpose of this study was to incorporate Words Their Way (Bear, Invernizzi, Templeton, and Johnston, 2008) into my daily teaching to improve my students' spelling success. The research approach I used in my classroom was a pretest/posttest design. I collected baseline data by administering the Primary Spelling Inventory (Appendix A). During the research study, students had weekly spelling tests. Students were given fifteen minutes of daily word work. During this times students worked on whole class word sorts and multiple word work activities. At the conclusion of this research, I administered the PSI again. To determine the impact of my study I compiled the data, organized my findings, and analyzed the results. The data showed an increase in students' spelling success and supported my hypothesis.
