Bounty begins a two-year mission. The ship travels to Tahiti to obtain breadfruit plants that will provide cheap food for slaves in the West Indies, the Bounty's final destination. The captain is William Bligh, a vicious taskmaster who doesn't flinch at giving two dozen lashes to any malcontent on board, for the most minor of infractions. The first mate is Lt. Fletcher Christian, who despises Bligh but has somehow earned the captain's respect. Bligh makes life miserable for the crew, and after the Bounty leaves Tahiti for the West Indies, Bligh orders the ship's doctor, a dying man, to stand on deck despite his illness. The doctor dies, which begins a chain reaction of anger leading to Christian leading a mutiny against Bligh. 505 0 $a Credits and foreword -- In the King's navy -- Boarding HMS Bounty -- Punishment -- Setting sail -- Understanding each other -- Navigation problem -- Aloft in rough seas -- Learning who's master -- Into the wind -- No cheese tonight -- Sharks over shark -- Demands over supplies -- Tahiti at last -- Among the islanders -- Christian's shore leave -- Romantic interlude -- Return to the lash -- Christian's promise -- Late doctor -- Christian's request -- Mutiny! -- I'll see you hanged -- What hurts -- Beating the sea -- Christmas -- Spelled with my name -- Pandora's captain -- Shipwreck -- On trial -- Another story -- Verdict -- No way back -- Back to duty -- Cast list. 500 $a Special features: Pitcairn Island today [featurette] (b & w, 1935) (10 min.); "Mutiny on the Bounty" wins 1935 Award [featurette] (b & w, 1936) (1 min.); theatrical trailers (7 min.). 586 $a Academy Award Winner, 1935, Best Picture. 600 10 $a Bligh, William, $d 1754-1817 $v Drama. 600 10 $a Christian, Fletcher, $d 1764-1793 $v Drama. 610 20 $a Bounty (Ship) $v Drama. 650 0 $a Bounty Mutiny, 1789 $v Drama. 650 0 $a Mutiny $v Drama. 650 0 $a Ship captains $v Drama. 650 0 $a Historic ships $v Drama. 651 0 $a Tahiti (French Polynesia : Island) $v Drama. 651 0 $a Great Britain $x History $y 1760-1789 $v Drama. 655 7 $a Action and adventure films. $2 lcgft $9 502922 655 7 $a Historical films. $2 lcgft $9 801467 655 7 $a Feature films. $2 lcgft $9 290023 655 7 $a Film adaptations. $2 lcgft $9 801960 655 7 $a Fiction films. $2 lcgft $9 857136 655 7 $a Video recordings for the hearing impaired. $2 lcgft $9 857193 700 1 $a Lloyd, Frank, $d 1887-1960, $e film director. $e film director. $9 424263 700 1 $a Jennings, Talbot, $e screenwriter. $9 82069 700 1 $a Furthman, Jules. $e screenwriter. $9 389339 700 1 $a Wilson, Carey, $d 1889-1962, $e screenwriter. $9 424264 700 1 $a Laughton, Charles, $d 1899-1962, $e actor. $9 35088 700 1 $a Gable, Clark, $d 1901-1960, $e actor. $9 42104 700 1 $a Tone, Franchot, $e actor. $9 424265 700 1 $a Mundin, Herbert, $d 1898-1939, $e actor. $9 424266 700 1 $a Quillan, Eddie, $d 1907-1990, $e actor. $9 424267 700 1 $a Digges, Dudley, $d 1879-1947, $e actor. $9 424268 700 1 $a Crisp, Donald, $d 1880-1974, $e actor. $9 93210 700 1 $a Stephenson, Henry, $d 1871-1956, $e actor. $9 424269 700 1 $a Lister, Francis, $d 1899-1951, $e actor. $9 424270 700 1 $a Byington, Spring, $d 1886-1971, $e actor. $9 84425 700 0 $a Movita, $d 1916-2015, $e actor. 700 1 $a Edeson, Arthur, $d 1891-1970, $e director of photography. $9 476062 700 1 $a Booth, Margaret, $d 1898-2002, $e editor of moving image work. 700 1 $a Stothart, Herbert, $d 1885-1949, $e composer (expression) $9 109023 700 1 $i Motion picture adaptation of (work): $a Hall, James Norman, $d 1887-1951. $t Mutiny on the Bounty. 700 1 $i Motion picture adaptation of (work): $a Nordhoff, Charles, $d 1887-1947. $t Mutiny on the Bounty. $9 257333 710 2 $a Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, $e production company. $e production company. $9 48477 710 2 $a Turner Entertainment Co. $9 110570 710 2 $a Warner Home Video (Firm) $9 186901 941 $a 1 945 $a dvv 952 $l FXPH314 $d 20220909053018.0 956 $a http://locator.silo.lib.ia.us/search.cgi?index_0=id&term_0=B05E8436471C11EA8C4E586797128E48 994 $a C0 $b KAYInitiate Another SILO Locator Search
