A deadly insect invasion threatens every tree in the forest and greedy loggers plan to harvest the protected land. To prevent the government from saving the trees, the profiteers muder a forest ranger and frame Gene Autry for the crime. Autry is cleared of charges, but the lumber men devise a villainous plan to ruin him and posion the forest's animals, provoking a furious final battle.
