Summary:
-- Provided by publisher.
A hilarious novel about the fear of being invaded. A story about two friends, a neighborhood and a few conspiracy theories. Thirteen thousand eight hundred million years after the birth of our Universe, in a western city, two immigrant friends face a vital crisis. Max just lost his restaurant because the landlord hasn't renewed his lease; Gast̤n must put his dog, Gato, to sleep, diagnosed with a terminal illness. Max locks himself in the restaurant to vegetate, while Gast̤n wanders through the pages of this novel trying to rescue him. The closure of the restaurant is just another sign of the unstoppable transformation of the neighborhood, which unsettles and revolts the Aborigines against the Far East, the North East and the Near East. But Gast̤n and Max, although they have lived there for more than thirty years, also came from abroad, from the old colonies of the far west. To arrive, Max's father also arrives, on the run from justice for a matter of corruption, and Max's son, Pol, a scientist who comes from the Tundra talking about bacteria, seeds, colonization and invasions from other planets. These and many other characters star in a plot in which the small stories of any neighborhood intersect with the most outlandish conspiracy theories. A novel that distills fine irony, written against hate and that tells us about friendship, parenthood, inheritance, family and love. "Are we alone?" the author wonders, and, like agent Fox Mulder, seems to suggest, "We are not alone." -- Provided by publisher.
