Summary:
After his mother dissapears, Sammy (Modine) shuts himself off from the world pretending to neither hear nor speak. Taken in by a waitress (Ivey) and befriended by the bus station manager (Skerritt) he keeps his silence for twenty years until he discovers a plot that would harm the town and enlists the local trash hauler (Jones) to turn the tables.
