Examines Piaget's theory and critically evaluates it in light of current research. The program describes the child development theories of Jean Piaget's theories and their themes, covering the cognitive stages of development from birth to twelve years old, giving illustrations of children's behavior at each level. Recent research is examined in relation to each stage and comparisons drawn with the theories of Jerome Bruner. Outlines current and future developments such as meta cognition and theory of mind and reports recent research findings.
