Two films of what was to be a trilogy by Senegalese filmmaker Djibril Diop Mambety entitled Histoires de petites gens (Tales of little people). Diop Mambety died in 1998 before completion of the third part. Le franc: After the French government devalues the West African Franc, Marigo wins a lottery and finds his life changed in both comic and meaningful ways. La petite vendeuse de Soleil: Sili Lam, a twelve year old paraplegic becomes the first girl to sell a daily newspaper and must rely on her inner strength to succeed in a world of bias and corruption.
