Summary:
In 1864, the Navajo Indians were forced by the United States' cavalry to leave their ancestral home in Arizona for a government home in New Mexico. Kee, a young Navajo boy, travels along with his mother, grandmother, sister, and what few domestic animals they could bring. After four long years the Navajo Indians are able to return to their ancestral home, and Kee realizes that in order to survive they must find a way to get along with white man.
