Summary:
"Goldwidows" are women whose husbands work as migrant gold miners in South Africa, often without returning home for five years at a time. The film focuses on the lives of four women who tell the story of their survival. They talk about their situation in a personal way, about their problems and hopes, how they cope in life without their men. It is a difficult life and some are forced to brew beer in order to survive while others have abandoned their villages to look for work in Maseru. Most of their children have dropped out of school for lack of school fees.
