Likewise, the publication takes the form of two separate but related exhibition catalogues, each leading toward the book's center. 500 $a Translated from German. 504 $a Includes bibliographical references. 520 8 $a A key term that characterizes the movement toward chaos, entropy appears in a variety of fields such as physics, probability theory, sociology and information technology. Within contemporary art, entropy has emerged to refer to installations often associated with representations of order, disorder and information, and their homogeneity. Through the works of Angela Bulloch and Maria Zerres, suggestions of entropy transpire in different ways and through their respective artistic forms. Inherent to both practices is a representation of a movement towards chaos. Angela Bulloch works with sculpture, installation, and sound. Her interdisciplinary practice spans forms that manifest her interest in systems, patterns, and rules, and the creative territory between mathematics and aesthetics. She proposes that this experience can be âsubliminally programmedâ; her work stages that which is beyond our grasp. Maria Zerres's paintings explore the aesthetic languages of abstraction and figuration. Her canvases play with the use of space by emphasizing the blank space of the canvas and overpainted areas that emerge from improvisation and result in compositions that bridge abstract and figurative painting. 600 10 $a Bulloch, Angela $v Exhibitions. 600 10 $a Zerres, Maria, $d 1961- $v Exhibitions. 600 17 $a Bulloch, Angela. $2 fast $0 (OCoLC)fst00308276 600 17 $a Zerres, Maria, $d 1961- $2 fast $0 (OCoLC)fst01594649 650 0 $a Installations (Art) $y 21st century $v Exhibitions. 650 0 $a Painting, German $y 21st century $v Exhibitions. 650 7 $a Installations (Art) $2 fast $0 (OCoLC)fst00974250 650 7 $a Painting, German. $2 fast $0 (OCoLC)fst01050851 648 7 $a 2000-2099 $2 fast 655 7 $a Exhibition catalogs. $2 fast $0 http://id.worldcat.org/fast/1424028 $0 http://id.worldcat.org/fast/1424028 700 12 $a Bulloch, Angela. $t Works. $k Selections. 700 12 $a Zerres, Maria, $d 1961- $t Paintings. $k Selections. 700 1 $a Gad, Amira, $e editor. $0 http://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/no2012025140 700 1 $a Schenk, Brigitte, $e editor. $0 http://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/n80117935 710 2 $a MathÌ£af al-ShaÌriqah lil-FunuÌn, $e host institution. $0 http://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/no2003050921 941 $a 1 952 $l OVUX522 $d 20191213021725.0 956 $a http://locator.silo.lib.ia.us/search.cgi?index_0=id&term_0=EA08632EF83511E784964A6B97128E48Initiate Another SILO Locator Search
