Summary:
This is the story of Blue Note Records, the jazz record company founded in 1939 by German refugees Alfred Lion and Francis Wolff. The history of the company has been intimately linked with the evolution of jazz music and the development of jazz musicians ever since. Includes many recordings of live performances by Blue Note artists as well as interviews of staff, performers and critics. Illustrated with photos by Francis Wolff.
