Prologue: The christening -- Act 1: The spell -- Act 2: The vision -- Act 3: The wedding.
Summary:
At the christening of a long-wished-for Princess, fairies invited as godmothers offer gifts: beauty, wit, and musical talent. A wicked fairy's gift is an enchantment: when the princess turns 16, she will prick her finger on a spindle and die. This curse is partially reversed by one last fairy, who declares that the princess will instead fall into a deep sleep for 100 years. The king forbids spinning, but inevitably the curse is fulfilled. The good fairy casts a spell of slumber upon the entire kingdom and surrounds the castle with a forest of briar. One hundred years later, a Prince arrives, braves the wood, defeats the wicked fairy, and awakens the Princess with a kiss. The entire kingdom awakes with her, prepares for a wedding, and invites all the fairies along with fairytale characters Puss in Boots, Little Red Riding Hood, and others. The ballet ends with an apotheosis where all the characters make a final bow, and the Prince and Princess live happily ever after.
