Summary:
Dr. Miles Bennell returns home from a business trip and notices that a strange sort of hysteria seems to be spreading among the townspeople. More and more people seem to be losing their own personalities. The doctor and his friends soon discover a weird form of giant plant life containing blank "pods" of human life forms that take over the townspeople's bodies while they sleep.
