Kate Gamble, aspiring playwright and daughter of the CEO of a massive private data integration company, is struggling to finish a play about the dark side of Big Data. She knows her father will see it as the ultimate betrayal, but she is compelled to tell the story, not only as an artist, but also as a daughter trying to understand her mother's suicide. When her childhood friend Patrick comes back to town, she begins to question everything about her life. Then her father comes under investigation by the Justice Department and Patrick suddenly goes missing, kidnapped for ransom. The cost? While trying to bring Patrick home, Kate unearths a conspiracy and cover up that may implicate one of the most powerful executives in the tech industry, while the development of her play unleashes family secrets and the demons behind her mother's death.
